Here's a list of the various components you need to make sure your Terminal Services infrastructure is properly licensed:. Each license pack includes some type of product key or agreement number that you must enter in order to install it. To install licenses after the initial installation, access the Terminal Services Licensing utility, right-click the licensing server, and select Install Licenses. After installation of these two Windows componets and activate it by Telephone, the Windows become a Licensed Terminal Server, right? Is this in this Terminal Server or the 5 clients which wants to access this Terminal Server?

I obseved that in the administrator tools of a Win, there is Terminal Server Licensing even you are not installing the Terminal Server and Terminal Server License in this Win server.

If in this case, I will need to find 5 clients and install the same key? Let's say, the correct way is to install the 5 pack key in the Terminal Server per device option. Is these 5 clients wil be selected in the order of first come first serve during the application running in the same domain? So, it will not accept any more connection if the 5 clients quota is reached, right? When you mentioned " I have a CAL 5 packs key" - what is the exact wording on that key?

If you're not going to run Terminal Services for users, you don't need Terminal Server licensing. If you are going to use Terminal Services, 1 server in your environment should run the Terminal Services Licensing service. Type the license server ID that is provided by the customer service representative, and then click Next. After a license server is activated, it becomes the registrar for Terminal Services client licenses.

While you are waiting to complete the activation process, your license server can issue temporary licenses for clients that allow the use of Terminal Services servers for up to days. You can change Licensing Wizard properties, such as the connection method and company information that you set during the activation process by using Terminal Server Licensing. To do so:. Right-click the license server you want to modify, and then click Properties.
